Pennine Domestic Abuse Partnership (PDAP) delivers nationally accredited, quality marked services across Kirklees working within a coordinated partnership response to victims of domestic abuse as part of the local area multi agency strategy to tackling domestic abuse which includes providing Refuge Accommodation.
Purpose of job: To work within the PDAP accommodation team to ensure the smooth running of PDAP’s safe accommodation services, providing immediate safety advice and support to victims of domestic abuse, professionals and members of the public and providing longer term support to women living in PDAP safe accommodation.
This role is subject to an enhanced Criminal Bureau Check.

The PDAP accommodation service Domestic Abuse Practitioner will provide practical safety advice, emotional support and support planning to victims of domestic abuse. The role involves dynamic assessment of risk and needs ensuring victims of domestic abuse are appropriately supported to their individual need. This is a fast-paced role that requires someone who is able to work calmly under pressure, prioritise effectively and communicate clearly.
The Domestic Abuse Practitioner will have experience of providing support, risk and needs assessments to adults experiencing domestic abuse. An excellent ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of people including victims of domestic abuse and professionals. The role includes recording accurate and concise client support planning information on PDAP case management systems so good IT skills and organisational skills are essential.
The Domestic Abuse Practitioner will have excellent understanding of domestic abuse and the effects on victims, families, and communities, also having excellent understanding of best practice within the domestic abuse and related sector, working with individuals who have complex and multiple needs. The post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis.
Experience of working with victims of domestic abuse or in a similar field (health, policing, safeguarding etc), is desirable but full training in domestic abuse will be given to the successful candidate.
A full UK driving license is desirable due to the nature of the work.
