WYCAS: Here to Help with Cashflow, Covid19 Implications, General Accounting & Training

A Message from our Finance & Accounting Partners, WYCAS

During this COVID-19 emergency, I  know that many of you will still be involved in delivering vital services within your communities, while others will have had to stop all their work, including trading activities, or find other ways to deliver them. This is a challenging time for everyone involved in the voluntary sector, and finances are a key concern for many. There is a host of guidance out there, on everything from the Job Retention scheme to postponing AGMs, but it is being constantly updated or changed and sometimes you just want to discuss your issue with a human being!  Here at WYCAS we’re happy to have a one to one chat about any queries you have  ( via phone or Zoom!) and we’re also here to offer some practical ways to help you negotiate the next few weeks and months…..

Cashflow - Now more than ever you will want to keep a close eye on this. Our Leeds accountant Claire Welling has produced a new version of our cashbook HERE that can help you track monthly cashflow. If you need any help with this, you can contact Claire at Claire.welling@wycas.org.uk, or on 07779641970

Webinar  - If you want a quick overview of the main finance implications of COVID-19, together with a more detailed look at how to review your budget and do a cashflow projection, WYCAS are holding a webinar on Thursday April 23rd at 10am, with Bradford Community Accountant Rhys North and WYCAS Chief Officer Amanda Peters. It’s free, but you will need to register here   Webinar Registration Link

Annual Accounts – Our offices are closed now and all the team are working from home. We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for you to get your documents to us, and to ensure you meet your deadlines. If you are an Annual Accounts client, and we haven’t already contacted you, please give us a call on 0113 270 6291 ( calls will be diverted), or call your accountant direct, to discuss getting your accounts booked in.

Local Advice  - Our colleagues at Third Sector Leaders Kirklees are able to offer a wealth of guidance and support on a range of COVID-19 issues. There is also a West Yorkshire wide survey, hosted by Third Sector Leeds, that  will enable infrastructure and funding bodies to get a clear picture of the impact of the COVID-19 virus on the voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors. You can access the survey HERE .It is quite detailed, but the information provided will really help us, so please fill it in if you can, and feel free to pass on the link to others.

Community Accountants  - Lis Beverley is your Community Accountant for Kirklees and is happy to deal with any queries you might have about your day to day finances, your annual accounts, or any training needs ( Remember that furloughed staff can undertake training and we can offer a variety of web based courses, either free or at very low cost). Lis can be reached on Elisabeth.Beverley@wycas.org. or on 07976911170

We know that there are likely to be tough times ahead for many voluntary and community groups, and we want to do everything we can to help you manage your finances well, so that the fantastic work you do in your communities can continue and grow.

If you think we can help, please contact us. In the meantime, stay safe!

Kind Regards, on behalf of all the WYCAS team,

Amanda Peters
